Features
Hibiscus waimeae is a treasured Hawaiian native where it grows as a large shrub or small tree along the coastal slopes. It produces gray bark and softly textured, oval green leaves that have pale, velvety undersides. While it may reach a height close to 30’ (9m) under optimal conditions, it is more likely to top out at around 15’ (4.5m)
Kokiʻo keʻokeʻo produces large, sweetly fragrant flowers that open white in the morning and blush to pink by the afternoon as they age. Each bloom lasts only a day, but flowers may appear year-round in frost-free climates.
Also commonly known as White Kauai Rosemallow and Kokio Keokeo.
Uses
An excellent specimen, accent, or flowering shrub for tropical and subtropical landscapes. Useful near patios, entries, and courtyards where the fragrant blooms can be appreciated. Also suitable for large containers in climates where winter protection is needed.
