Features
Ornamental peppers are generally grown as decorative elements for their dainty, colorful fruits on compact plants. While they are edible, be cautious; nursery grown selections may have been treated with pesticides commonly used on ornamental plants. Enjoy plants indoors for their color, form, and decorative touch.
Uses
Can be grown outdoors in a container or in the garden through the summer, as well as indoors year-round. Makes an attractive and unusual centerpiece for a dining or buffet table. Wash fruits, vegetables and herbs thoroughly before eating.
Tolerance for cold weather. At what temperature should these plants be moved indoors?
Hi Susan,
Your ornamental pepper will tolerate temperatures as low as 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) but it’s not ideal to continuously subject your plant to temperatures that low since it really prefers temperatures between 70-80 degrees F (21-26 degrees C).
