Features
This delightful little mandarin orange is a fantastic snacking orange because it is easy to peel and usually seedless. Satsuma oranges originated in Japan and the common name reflects the province from which the oranges were first exported to the West. They are one of the most cold-tolerant citrus available and can survive short periods as low 15° F (10° C). Like most citrus, the blooms fill the air with their sweet fragrance.
Uses
Utilize citrus trees in the landscape just like any ornamental tree. Give enough space that light is available from all sides, away from the shade of larger trees or buildings. A great plant for large patio containers where the fragrant flowers can be enjoyed and the fruit easily picked. Can also be grown indoors if space and ample sunlight can be provided.
