Features
Regarded by many as the tastiest and juiciest orange in the world, the ‘Minneola’ Tangelo is a hybrid of a ‘Dancy’ Tangerine and a ‘Duncan’ Grapefruit, developed in Florida in 1931. They are often called Honeybells because of their bell-shaped bud end and their sweet, almost seedless flesh. The juicy fruit has a thin, reddish-orange, extremely easy-to-peel skin which makes it even more desirable. The fruit matures during the holidays and therefore is one the most popular of gift fruits. Orange trees grow best in frost-free locations, and need another variety of citrus tree for pollination to produce blossoms and fruit.
Uses
Utilize citrus trees in the landscape just like any ornamental tree. Give enough space that light is available from all sides, away from the shade of larger trees or buildings. A great plant for large patio containers where the fragrant flowers can be enjoyed and the fruit easily picked. Can also be grown indoors if space and ample sunlight can be provided.
