Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage

Ingredients

1 2-pound red cabbage, sliced thin (about 12 cups)
1/4 cup butter
6 tablespoons sugar
2/3 cup balsamic vinegar

Directions

Melt butter in a large pot on medium heat. Add cabbage, sauté until slightly wilted, about 5 minutes. Add sugar, toss to coat evenly cabbage. Add vinegar. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover, simmer until cabbage is tender, stirring often, about 30 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Garnish with fresh apple slices to add a twist of flavor, texture, and a pleasing presentation.
